This year’s Global Chess Festival - which took place on 10 October - followed a different format to usual.

The pandemic gave us inspiration to develop and create new online educational activities for kids: A new possibility for kids aged 4-6 to learn the basics of chess with Judit Polgar through a colourful, creative free app, now available also for IOS.

Based on the opinion of the University’s Doctoral Council, Caissa award-winning Judit Polgár, the best female chess player in the history of chess was granted the title of “Doctor Honoris Causa” by the Senate of the Budapest University of Physical Education.

The Judit Polgar Chess Foundation presented its educational chess programs Chess Palace and Chess Playground at the Meeting of Hungarian Weekend Schools on 21 February in Budapest.

The 5th Global Chess Festival on 12th October 2019 was hosted at the Hungarian National Gallery once again.

The Goodwill Ambassador of Chess award, which was founded by the Judit Polgar Chess Foundation, returned for the second year to reward some of the most extraordinary achievements within the fields of sport, education, science and art.
